FAQs
What types of professionals attend this Seminar?
Participants are therapists who work in varying modalities, school counselors, social workers. People in the education field who wish to expand their careers or deepen their parent education work also take this training. These include special education teachers, early childhood teachers, elementary and high school educators, daycare providers, early childhood and other school directors and administrators. Laypeople who work in a voluntary capacity with parents in their communities find they are often called on to provide coaching support. This training is for people with a professional practice.
What is the focus of a Simplicity Parenting Coach’s work?
The Simplicity Parenting Coach most often works in a one to one capacity with a parent or guardian, giving support to simplify and balance family life. Depending on their work environment and the seminar topic they complete, they can also coach parents in how to build clear and kind boundaries and discipline, achieve better emotional self-regulation or support their children, tweens and teens to be more emotionally resilient.
How much does the training cost?
Coach Training: This cost includes three Care Professional Seminars, and your first year of supervision/licensing (with a discount of over 50%).
Annual License Fee: The annual fee for the Simplicity Parenting Coach’s License is $849. This includes your supervision and listing on our website.
Ongoing Professional Development: The costs of the approved courses are generally modest and varied depending on the course chosen. However, if a Simplicity Parenting Institute course is taken, (e.g. a Group Leader training) a 30% discount is offered.
Do I have to do the seminars in any particular order?
No. While some people have found it very helpful to do the Family Life seminar first, it is fine to order your courses in any way that fits into your calendar.
What if I have already done a Care Professionals seminar?
If you have successfully completed a Care Professionals seminar in the past, this will count towards your Coaches training.
What if I have already done a Group Leaders training?
The Group Leader training looks at the material through a distinctly different lens. Because of this, it does not count toward the Coach’s license. However, it can be taken as a part of the annual Professional Development requirement. This is particularly helpful if you wish to add to your offerings and lead groups.
What is the difference between a Coach and a Group Leader?
A Simplicity Parenting Coach primarily works on an individual basis with a parent or guardian. They offer strategies on an in-person basis using their training and intuition to guide them. A Group Leader, as the name implies, works with small groups within your community using the video material that Kim has carefully prepared, followed by facilitating discussion led by you. In other words, a Group Leader is not the professional-in-the-room and is not responsible for delivering content.
What is the difference between a Care Professional and a Coach?
A Care Professional takes an individual course in a focused interest area to incorporate into their existing practice. However, A Coach may incorporate this in their existing work, or establish a stand alone practice that covers a wider range of Simplicity Parenting topics. As they have completed three seminars, receive mentoring/supervision and do ongoing professional development, their certificate and license will reflect all the seminars they have completed and also state the current status of their supervision.
Does the training qualify for CE credits?
We are currently not offering formal CEU's. However, we are happy to create a customized letter indicating the content and contact hours of this training, for anyone who needs assurance for their local licensing board.
Can I take this training from outside the North, Central and South America?
Yes! The learning materials are downloadable, using directions you receive upon registration, and the sessions are LIVE via Zoom. Live attendance is required for the supervision sessions, but if you live in a time zone that makes that impossible, our Training Coordinator can do her best to develop a plan that works for you.
